A bit of background
The ExportSavvy team are experienced entrepreneurs who have run a range of product- and service-based businesses that have grown significantly through international trade.
The team has been working with DIT and others helping businesses to learn, grow and prosper internationally for over 15 years. Over that time we have worked with around 13,000 SME exporters, some who had never sold overseas before and some who wanted to develop their existing overseas trade.
In short we understand business and we understand how business people learn.
Over time our clients have wanted more flexibility we have gradually made more and more use of online resources to support them.
As we have plugged more and more exporting know-how into ‘ExportSavvy’, it has grown and developed as an invaluable source of help for all SME exporters, providing just enough information just in time and allowing everyone to work at their own pace. Built on foundations provided by a highly experienced team and developed out of the real-life experiences of SME exporters, ExportSavvy offers flexible access to the practical information, advice and learning which underpins export success.

David Bone C.Dir
David is a seasoned MD with experience of introducing both product- and service-based businesses to international markets.
After enjoying an early career providing services to FMCG and the music industry he turned his management skills to the development and delivery of energy efficiency solutions. He led his last engineering business to £5.8 million turnover and a Queen’s Award for Export. That business also won the accolade of Parcelforce Small Exporter of the year and David was personally recognized by his peers with the Sage Daily Telegraph award for best business Leader in 2005. He is a committed exporter, with the communication skills to pass on his enthusiasm and motivate others.
David is a Chartered Director under the Institute of Directors.
Andy Watmore BSc
Andy has worked for over thirty years in positions up to Managing Director level in manufacturing & distribution companies, specialising in international channel management for the automotive aftermarket and industrial distribution.
Having worked with both small and medium-sized businesses, he brings all the strategic and operational skills and experience that have developed through his successful and varied international career. These include the identification and development of new markets, the implementation of marketing plans i.e. sourcing & purchasing, new product development, channel development, product launches, brand differentiation & positioning, promotional activity, marketing services, etc.
In recent years he used his experience to support SME exporters, working as an International Trade Adviser before joining the ExportSavvy team.
Robert Taylor BA (hons) RSA Dip
Director of Learning
Rob has enjoyed an extensive career developing service businesses both in the UK and overseas, and has both an abiding interest in what makes SME people tick and a deep passion for teaching and learning. Over a fourteen year period he has personally delivered workshops and business development support to around 5,000 SME export clients and is able to offer truly exceptional insight into the variety of opportunities and challenges faced by growing exporters
