A critical decision for any exporter is where to trade – which markets will give the best return against effort and resources applied?

Reasons for market selection can often be quite arbitrary – a gut feeling, or a chance conversation with a colleague, or a holiday resulting in the thought that “there may be opportunity for us here”.

However, if you think about it, the selection of a market is too important to be made on a whim.  There is nothing wrong with “gut feelings’, but they should be qualified.
